The Light Child

PHOTO PROMPT © Roger Bultot

On a daily bases, Charlie bicycled past this vintage run down children’s hospital. She enjoyed the usual seven am quietness of West 85th avenue. She would layer up with long sleeves and pack a bag with lunch, and extra reading material.

Her mother, Anne, gave birth to her in this very building. It was April 18th, third floor, 3:30 in the morning. The staff was cheering and in tears of joy. Anne, a decedent of royalty, gave birth to a glorious baby girl. Charlie is short for Charlene Rosalynn Rossenof. She was the love affair child Ann, intentionally, kept a secret.
